Where is Point
Roberts?
Point Roberts is just south of Tsawwassen
on a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and Boundary Bay. It
is a 35-minute drive from downtown Vancouver and only minutes from the
Tsawwassen Ferry Terminal. Although Point Roberts is in Washington
State, the only change that is evident as you cross through the relaxed
border crossing is the lack of development and how peaceful and serene
everything is. With less than 100 centimeters of rain per year (much
lower than Vancouver) and the lack of wind coming from the ocean, Point
Roberts will have more great golfing days than any course in the Lower
Mainland. To put it simply, when you look out on a cloudy, rainy day
and see that the sun is shining somewhere to the southwest, it is shining
on Point Roberts.
What is the golf
course like?
The Point Roberts Golf and Country Club is
one of the best courses in the Lower Mainland if not the Pacific
Northwest. The course is cut through the forest with views of the ocean
distracting your eye on several holes. It
plays between 5,144 and 6,868 yards depending on the tees and will
challenge the potential of every golfer. Graham Cooke and Wayne Carleton
have designed a course that flows through the land while taking care not
to disturb the natural beauty and wildlife. The course will have you
wanting to take risks, but the prudent player will soon learn that an
errant shot will have them wishing they would have taken the safer route.
. Our signature hole, number four, is a 584 yard, par five from the back
tee. This is the fairway you
look down as you first drive in to the golf course and its breath taking
challenge will inspire the golfer within you.
When did it open?
We opened on August 31st,
2001 for both member and public play. Since then, The Point,
has become known as one of the best courses in the area and our drier
winter conditions are unrivaled. Our 100% bent grass greens have matured
nicely, becoming much more receptive to the ball while maintaining
superior putt-ability. Gold Digest recently ranked Point Roberts Golf
& Country Club, 8th Best New Course in the USA out of
a field of about 200 nominated courses.
What
about the condition of the course?
The golf course is in excellent condition. Carved out of a mature
forest, with 5 inches of sand added over the entire area before it was
seeded , has
created optimal drainage and exceptional winter conditions. These design
techniques, combined with maturity, have produced a golf course that looks
and plays like it has been here for years. No plugged balls and no need
for rubber boots. For current conditions or weather please call us.
What facilities
are open and how do I book a tee time?

$25 Canadian to $65 Canadian. Even though we are in the United
States, please note that we have stated these fees in Cdn. dollars
since most of our guests are Canadian. Feel free to call the course for
rates and be sure to ask about our Early-Bird and
Twilight specials.
Is there going to be a
residential component?
Yes, there will be
residential units available. More information on these will be made
available as we proceed, or call (360) 945-Golf (4653) or (604)
694-0222 anytime to be placed on a priority list.
What is the border
crossing like?
As you probably know, Point
Roberts is landlocked so the border tends to be very friendly. In fact,
they are glad to see Canadians coming in because it means more business
for the local community. Due to September 11 2001, please be prepared to
show a passport or birth certificate with picture ID at the border.
